DISASTER MANAGEMENT
GEPC envisions a future where every citizen is disaster-aware, every village has trained responders, and every city has an inclusive and sustainable disaster resilience strategy. By working together with stakeholders from public, private, and non-profit sectors, GEPC is redefining disaster management—not just as a response mechanism, but as a pathway to empowerment, equity, and sustainable recovery.
Let us join hands to build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities.
What GEPC Does in Disaster Management ?
GEPC conducts awareness drives, school safety programs, and community workshops on early warning systems, evacuation procedures, and first aid. Local youth and women are trained as frontline responders, creating a grassroots safety network in vulnerable regions.
Post-disaster, GEPC offers mental health support, especially to children and displaced families, and helps restart education through mobile classrooms, school supply drives, and counseling services.
In times of crisis, GEPC coordinates relief material distribution, mobile health units, temporary shelters, and sanitation facilities, in collaboration with NGOs, government agencies, and corporate partners. It ensures that support reaches last-mile communities, including tribal belts, slums, and remote villages.
Leveraging data analytics, GIS mapping, and mobile-based alert systems, GEPC promotes tech-enabled disaster risk assessment and planning, particularly in climate-vulnerable zones.
GEPC engages with policymakers, district authorities, and local institutions to strengthen disaster risk governance, advocate for inclusive resilience policies, and ensure that vulnerable populations—especially women, children, and the elderly—are not left behind.
The GEPC recognizes that disaster management is not just about emergency response—it is about building resilient, informed, and empowered communities that can withstand, respond to, and recover from crises. Whether it’s natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, and cyclones, or man-made emergencies such as industrial accidents or pandemics, GEPC takes a people-centric, systems-driven approach that emphasizes prevention, preparedness, and long-term rehabilitation.
GEPC’s work in disaster management aligns with key Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:
- SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being): By providing timely medical aid, hygiene support, and trauma counseling in disaster-hit areas.
- SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): Through capacity-building initiatives that strengthen urban and rural resilience.
- SDG 13 (Climate Action): By promoting community-based climate adaptation strategies and sustainable disaster risk reduction (DRR) practices.
